New Tool

It would be somewhat inaccurate to say that I've always wanted one of these. Earlier in my life I wanted a model railroad, and a little later, a decent pair of headphones. I got the train set, but had to wait until I was on my own to purchase the headphones. Too bad about that, it would have meant that I didn't need to hear my parents yell "Turn that damn music down! Why do you have to listen to it so loud, anyway?"

But I digress (can you digress if you haven't even started discussing the subject? Uh..)

Two days ago, I spotted a used but usable Delta/Rockwell 6" edge jointer machine at the recycle yard where I hang out a lot. I've been using the excuse that I didn't have a jointer to not put trim around the windows or doors in my house, but I'll have to think of a new one. Went back with my trailer yesterday and picked it up, here it is in the new morning light just before I unloaded it.

It's in decent shape, the blades look good, and with a clean-up of the table, fence, and a new V-belt, it should suit my purposes just fine. It's difficult to do any serious cabinetry or finish woodworking without such a tool, so I guess it's time to fetch some of the red alder wainscoting and trim out of the storage shed and see what I can trim up.

This machine is already becoming a project. I had to spend over an hour making space for it in my crowded garage.
